the freezing dawn,
the parched midday,
The only thing Xeno Fuse hated more than overtime was overtime with students. He didn’t like working more than he was required to. He didn’t think he was getting paid for working after hours, either. It was idiotic to believe he would actually enjoy something like working without some kind of monetary gain coming from it. Why, he was only at this damn rich snob academy to please Father Dearest. The man was dead, but Fuse was still blaming the fact that he took this job on his father. His father had always wanted him to be successful, and had forced the idea onto his son that he had to get a good job. Fuse hated jobs involving overtime, something being the head of a program entailed, what with all the meetings and paperwork and other meaningless crap he was suckered into doing. And, even more than that, he despised children. He gave out detentions for the littlest wrongdoings (especially since he wasn’t the poor sap who had to sit through detention with the little brats). He disliked everything about kids, especially the ones at this particular school. They were all a bunch of stupid, annoying, snobbish, rich brats who really got on Fuse’s nerves. And now, at about seven at night, he was stuck doing what, now? No, it wasn’t his own personal matters. He was stuck tutoring.
Well, if the kid even showed up, that is. Of course, this particular student was one of those retards from the therapeutic program. They, along with the special needs program, were always the ones who needed extra help, or so he thought. This brat was Himitsu Sakei. He couldn’t care less about why the loser was in the therapeutic program. He hadn’t even bothered to read the boy’s file. All Fuse knew was that, with his faux-hawk and baggy clothes, Himitsu looked like some ugly gangster-wannabe. He didn’t even understand how the kid even made it into the academy. He knew, at the least, that the kid came from a poor family in Tokyo. Himitsu had also been some delinquent in his past school, obviously, since his grades were horrible now. He was lazy, didn’t even try, and acted out all the time. It drove Fuse crazy, trying to tutor a hopeless loser like Himitsu. He hated kids in general, but ones who were not well-behaved irked him. He had only been tutoring Himitsu for about a week, but was already sick of it.
But, somehow, Fuse managed to find himself attracted to the boy just as much as he was repulsed by him. Himitsu was quite attractive, for a fifteen-year-old brat. He didn’t much like the boy’s stupid faux-hawk, but his eyes were a pretty shade of dark brown. He didn’t look quite fifteen either, more like seventeen. The way he acted out, purposely didn’t try in school, Fuse could see he was screaming for attention. It was almost… cute. Though that was definitely not something an administrator should have been thinking about a student. As that thought crossed Fuse’s mind, he frowned. He wouldn’t let himself be attracted to anyone so easily, especially a freshman student. He was asexual, wasn’t he? If he did so happen to like a gender, he certainly wouldn’t like men, now would he? He didn’t want to be homosexual. He didn’t want to like anything. He was asexual, and that was that. Fuse shook his head, banishing the sick thoughts out his mind. He needed to concentrate. All I have to do is get through this tutoring session, and then it’s off to bed, he thought.
For some reason, he couldn’t wait for Himitsu to arrive. He refused to believe that it was because he was attracted to a student. It just wasn’t possible. It wasn’t right. Hell, it wasn’t legal! Still, he found himself stricken with anxiety, his gray eyes skimming the time on the analog clock hanging on the wall, then moving on to the door below it, and on to the clock again, repeating the cycle. He was feeling slightly antsy. He tapped his pen on his wooden desk, no longer able to concentrate on the document in front of him. It was a lost cause, attempting to work anymore. He waited impatiently for the telltale knock at the door, which would signal Himitsu’s arrival.
